Exercise as a Snoring Solution

Exercise is one of the best solutions available for a number of reasons. I’m sure you already know most of those so I won’t repeat too many here. What most people don’t know is that there are actually specific exercises for your throat that can keep you from snoring.

Train Your Airway

These movements work by strengthening the muscles of the throat to help keep your airway open when you relax or sleep. By working and tightening these muscles they stay open easier and can really cut down how much you snore. This allows your airway to stay open with less effort. Sometimes this alone can completely eliminate snoring.

Strengthening and tightening techniques that help to prevent snoring often focus on the tongue, jaw, face, and throat. Many of them are very simple and only take a few minutes a day to do.

Some of them even include things like singing. Don’t worry no one has to hear you. The warm up that many professional singers use is a great way to start getting your throat in shape. Others are silly looking things like sticking your tongue out and moving it or smiling as big as you can. None of them are hard and there is quite a variety of them available.

Premade Plans

There are some thought out plans on the market that will help to keep you from snoring. Don’t waste your money on them! All of the information that they contain can be found for free on the internet with a few quick searches.

The programs aren’t terrible; it’s just that you could easily find everything that they contain for free. That is the only reason I do not recommend buying one. It’s a good idea and these courses have helped a lot of people to stop snoring. Just check around and do some digging yourself before you spend money on one.

Specific Benefits

Now I would like to tell you the role each kind of movement plays in putting an end to snoring. Let’s start with the tongue. When you work your tongue the muscles that support it get stronger as well.

What this means for you is it will be harder for your tongue to fall towards your throat at night. If you enjoy sleeping on your back and no other solutions have appealed to you yet this one might be a winner.

As for facial workouts, like smiling as wide as you can, these provide extra support to your airway too. This makes sense because a lack of muscle tone anywhere in the mouth, throat, or face can allow your airway to become too small by letting things relax too much.

These tricks work very well and can do more than most people give them credit for.

Jaw and throat movements go together. It’s hard to separate them actually. Think about it. To move your jaw muscles in any direction either your throat or face must contract to make it happen. These ones tend to be easy like the others.

Who They Are Best For

As we age our muscles begin to lose their tone and strength. This includes the muscles around your airway in your face, throat, jaw, and mouth. When your muscles start to lose their tone can happen at various ages but if you are at least in your thirties you could be experiencing this.

If you are past your thirties then the chances that this has already started are even greater. However, that also means that you could see greater benefits from working these muscles.

Special work to strengthen the muscles around your airway is a very good idea and can work for you. You just need to put in the time and effort.
