Sleeper Friendly Ninja Moves To Stop Snoring!

You might be wondering what ninjas have to do with snoring, or stopping it for that matter. Well, what do you think of when you hear the word ninja?

Most people think of some guy in a black outfit that can sneak into a place, do his job, and sneak back out undetected. That is exactly how ninjas come into the picture here.

The Situation

I want you to imagine something with me for a moment. It’s a picture perfect night. The sky is clear and all is quiet except for the distant chirping of a few crickets.

You’re lying in bed next to your partner just about to close your eyes. As you are about to fade off into a fantastic dream, something terrible happens!

A chainsaw rips through your bedroom! It sounded like a chainsaw at first anyway. You don’t have a snoring problem, but your partner does.

What do you do now?

Should you wake them up?

Should you splash their face with cold water or make a racket?

No, those are all bad ideas. The good news is that there is an alternative.

It is possible to stop your partner’s snoring without waking them, and with ninja-like stealth to boot.

Break Out The Ninja Costume

If you decide to go with the better and so much more considerate option then you’ve made the right choice. However, there is really only one way to stop their snoring without waking them. You have to get them to change the way they are sleeping.

Getting someone to move while they are asleep isn’t the easiest thing to do. The only exception would be if you want to pull the old shaving cream prank. I would not suggest that for this situation.

At this point most partners of snorers would suggest throwing them an elbow to force them to roll over or move. I am not recommending this either. This is likely to wake them up and not in a pleasant way.

The best way to get your partner to move or change positions without waking them is to start by moving their arm. If you try to pick them up honeymoon style you could easily hurt yourself or end up waking them anyway.

By starting with just their arm you don’t have to deal with their full bodyweight or risk pulling something. Most of the time if you move their arm their body will follow. For example, if your partner is snoring and they are sleeping on their back, start by moving one arm to their side.

Stretch it out so that their hand is above their head. At this point they will probably roll to their side. If they don’t then you could simply move their other arm to the same way in the same position. I would say about 90% of people will roll to their side if you move both of their arms.

Another option is to move their head. You may be surprised by what I am about to suggest but it is something that has worked for me personally. If you cannot get your partner to roll and they are sleeping on their back, try lifting their head and gently removing their pillow. Let them sleep with their head flat on the bed and see what happens.

I just wanted to point something out to you here very quickly. Do not use both of these tricks at the same time. Sleeping on your side without a pillow can cause neck pain, so keep that in mind.

Ninja Exit

If your partner normally sleeps on their back, try moving their arm or arms to see if you can get them to roll to their side. Changing positions this way can help a fair number of people. If you can’t get them to roll onto their side then try lifting their head and taking their pillow so that they are completely flat.

Neither one of these should wake your partner. Mutual respect is a huge part of any relationship, so remember that next time you’re tempted to give them the old atomic elbow. Hopefully one of these options will help both of you sleep better. I’ve had success with both so you should too.
